The US- Mexico trucking agreement not likely to continue after three year pilot pact expired yesterday - Loadsmart

Written by loadsmart | Oct 3, 2014

Only thirteen mexican carriers were participating in the trucking agreement prior to yesterday when the trucking pact expired. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) said they had expected to attain 316 participants by the end of the three years. After falling short of those expectations they do not look too excited to extend the pact.

Not only was there a lack of participants. The inspections of loads by the FMCSA (according to The Owner-Operators Independent Drivers Association) were conducting  to validate the programs performance were being done on only two of those mexican carriers 81% of the time. Making it difficult to analyze the mexican truck fleet as a whole.
