Pushing up the max trucking hours a week - Loadsmart

Written by loadsmart | Nov 3, 2014

Republican Senator from Maine Susan Collins is pushing for longer hours with an amendment that would increase the limit to 82 hours a week. While Democrat Senators Blumenthal (Conn.) and Booker (N.J.) have commisioned a surver that found (with not much surprise) that  80% of people feel less safe on the road if truckers are allowed to drive longers hours. Their amendment would keep the limit at 70 hours a week. However, the American Trucking Associations (ATA) says that the survey is misleading and most americans find truckers to be the safest drivers on the road.
