This is a bi-weekly series that brings the insights we use to get your shipments from A to B from our carrier sales floor to your home office.
This week, Loadsmart’s Chloe Cas, breaks down what happened last week and what to expect this week in the freight market in less than 2 minutes.
Last week we saw the market soften. Rates were normalizing and things seemed as they were trending back to normal seasonal patterns. Volumes jumped to above 15,000 and remained strong. Rejection even continued to slow down to levels we saw in early December. However, a major winter storm took its time crossing the Midwest and East Coast, dumping snow and ice in its tracks. What we are seeing now is delays in transit. Trucks aren’t able to move. There’s cold weather in OK and TX that we expect to continue on until Friday.
Weather is driving the bus this week. Temperatures remain cold throughout the country. We can expect it to be a challenge in the Southern States as they aren’t usually equipped for this cold weather.
