Bi-Weekly Freight Market Recap: August 15, 2022 – August 26, 2022

This is a bi-weekly series that brings the insights we use to get your shipments from A to B from our carrier sales floor to your home office.

This week, Loadsmart’s Chloe Cas, breaks down what happened last week and what to expect this week in the freight market in less than 2 minutes.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK (AUG 15 – AUG 19)

The market continues to soften. We see the same elevated capacity levels from the prior 2 years but with much less freight demand. Tender rejections fell under 6 percent which is another indicator that carriers are accepting more of their committed business and leaving less freight to go to the spot market. We are seeing rejections similar to those of 2019, which we all remember. 😏

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEK (AUG 22– AUG 26)

With Labor Day Weekend approaching, in our opinion, we don’t anticipate much pressure in the market. We see next week reflecting the same as the past weeks. Keep an eye out for brake safety week, we might see some capacity come off as it avoids inspections.
